Chauvet has seen the world from the top and the button, from the citadels of his rigid jesuit boy school and the dirty dumps of suburban favelas, from the sanctuary of a well-to-do family, and the unknown of a new country; he has been a thousand times a stranger, and calls almost as many places his home. But wherever his has been, whatever he did, his eyes were clearly wide open – and now he opens those of the audience.
